5 Steps to Insure Your Wedding Invitations Will be Treasured by Your Guests

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Wedding invites are keepsakes. Family members and friends will keep them for years, putting them in picture frames, scrapbooks, family bibles and photo albums. You want your wedding invitations to be the type that they will treasure and want to keep.

Step 1 – Pick the Right Design

Picking the right design is important. The wedding invitation needs to bring back memories of the wedding itself. Don’t choose something generic just because it is less expensive. Don’t choose a flimsy, cheap paper to have it printed on. You will want the invitation to be a keepsake that they will have for years. Choose colors, designs, and themes that match your wedding theme. Some examples would be flowers or sunsets, or beach scenes for spring, vintage designs for a more traditional wedding and something unique if you are picking an unusual, more modern theme.

Step 2 – Pick the Right Cards

Make sure to pick the right cards to go with the invitations. RSVP’s, direction and registry cards, accommodation cards, place cards, name cards, and coordinated menus are kept as keepsakes for a wedding also. Be sure to order cards that match the invitations, and be sure to order enough so everyone attending will get one. A guest will feel insulted if they get an invitation and find out other cards were sent that they did not receive.

Step 3 – Be Concise

There is nothing more embarrassing to the couple and more insulting to the parents than having the parent’s names misspelled. Be concise. Check the spelling on everything before ordering the invitations and accessories.  Make sure that everything is written correctly and in the correct order. If the names of other relatives or friends will be included, be sure to get the proper spelling.

Step 4 – Personalize

Everyone loves to see their name on something. Personalised invitations are some of the most treasured keepsakes. It makes the guest feel very special and very close to the bride and groom. If you can’t afford to have each guests name put on the cards, then see if you can have a friend or relative with beautiful handwriting or experience in calligraphy write the names on the top of the card. If this can’t be done, then at least be sure to address the envelopes by hand. There is nothing more impersonal than receiving an invitation in a typed or computer generated envelope.

Step 5 – Include a Personal Note

Although this may take some extra time, including a small personal note on the back of the invitation will go over really big with your guests. If you have too many guests, then just do it on the back of relative’s cards. If the wedding invitations are ordered early enough, then writing a personal note, just a line or two near the bottom will make the invitation more of a treasure for each person. For example: “ We would be so pleased (name), if you could attend our wedding. It would mean so much to us to have you be a part of our special day.” Or “ We are looking forward to seeing you at on this special day.”

Wedding Invitations Etiquette

Monday, August 29th, 2011

Weddings are all about elegance and etiquette because being an event of a lifetime it calls for the respect of the union between two people in love who have decided to enter holy matrimony. When it comes to wedding invitation etiquette there are many things to consider as well, apart from the wedding preparations as most of the etiquette components falls upon wedding invitations. For wedding invitations etiquette there are various things to consider from the wedding invitation wording, to the addressing and mailing and also the wedding invitation enclosures.

Wedding Invitation Wording

When it comes to wedding invitations etiquette, the wording that you use is important. You can either opt to keep it casual or formal, but regardless of that the proper rules of society and how you word them in a way that sticks to the traditional invitation etiquette stand. An example of standard wedding invitation wording would be;

Mr and Mrs Peter Bates

request the pleasure of the company of

This wedding invitation wording which is one made available at DreamDay Invitations on its online system allows you to sift through the options and also customise accordingly and will be proofed by professionals to ensure that etiquette is maintained.

Wedding Invitation Addressing & Mailing

When addressing your wedding invitation, etiquette would mainly involve how you address the invitees in terms of title. For example, based on the relationship status and if the couple if married whether the wife is using her husband’s last name and also on their professional titles. If they are a married couple, then the option of addressing them as ‘Mr and Mrs” is fine, but however, if the wife has a different surname or has a title different to that of the husband then her name would appear first, in the form of ‘Dr. Jane Carter and Mr. Joe Smith’.

Wedding Invitation Enclosures

When it comes down to wedding invitation enclosures, what we mean here are the wedding invitation accessories that accompany your invite to the wedding. These include the likes of the reply card, the directions and accommodations card which would include a map and also possible accommodation options for out-of-towners. This is considered good etiquette as it allows you to be considerate of people who wouldn’t normally know where to stay especially if they are not from the parts you are from.  DreamDay Invitations offers the options of pocket wedding invitations that facilitate etiquette in manner in a neat and tidy way.

Friday, October 8th, 2010

Styles and trends have evolved considerably over time all over the world, and as multi-culturalism spreads into every country around the world, we can now see many completely different styles of weddings and wedding invitations emerging. Classic and traditional wedding themes will vary with each culture and country. It will always be a widely popular choice for many brides and grooms with many cultures to follow the traditions and customs held dear to their own religions and countries. One current trend at the moment seems to be leaning towards nature and the outdoors.

In the Spring and Summer months, many brides are opting to hold their wedding and reception outdoors in setting such as beaches or gardens, and incorporating a ‘Nature theme’ into their reception decorations, menus, bridal accessories and colours and using colourful seasonal and beautiful native flowers for floral bouquets and table centrepieces.

Wedding invitations in stunning florals, summery beach images, beautiful sunset photographs and garden themes are most definitely a very popular choice for any bride in Australia today.

For Autumn and Winter weddings, wedding invitations can feature rich, glorious darker colours or muted autumn tones using things such decorative grasses, autumn foliage in rich colours and wheat sheaths.

Reception venues can be decorated to match with co-ordinated wedding stationery and table decorations and centrepieces creating a wedding theme that will add warmth and romance to any chilly day.

Invitations can now much more diverse with style as each Bride and Groom try to show a part of their own personality in their invitation and arrangements. You will find a fantastic range of beautiful invitations and stationery these days online, ready to be viewed and edited instantly and sent to you by courier or mail quickly and efficiently. Gone are the days of shopping on foot from printed to printer in search of the perfect wedding invitation. Just surf the net in the comfort of your own home with your loved ones by your side for some of best quality wedding stationery and accessories available anywhere today.

Other areas of wedding planning and trends have changed in the modern day as well.

Wedding Menus are becoming more sophisticated as our access to quality produce, restaurants, gourmet food and talented chefs broadens. Brides are turning away from the established ‘roast chicken or roast beef dinner’ and choosing more stylishly prepared foods for their guests.

And as the modern bride and groom ventures outdoors into nature to recite their vows and love for each other, finger food menus have found their place into a more relaxed wedding reception and gardens parties becoming very popular, at less formal weddings.

Wedding cakes have evolved considerably from the traditional tiered, floral decorated cakes of yesteryear. Imagination is the only limit when it comes to wedding cakes, and all sorts of shapes, colours and styles have emerged to suit any wedding in any setting, whether it be fun and casual or formal and traditional. The conventional fruitcake is being replaced with other tastier options such as carrot cake, chocolate mud or lemon cake. Now cake makers are really showcasing their flair and skills with all sorts of creations and decorations to suit all modern brides. Cupcake towers filled with colourfully decorated individual cupcakes are really ‘IN’ at the moment.

Wedding dresses have become the icon of fashion with modern brides. Moving away from bulky, wide, tulle filled skirts and high neck bodices, to strapless designs, and romantic, ‘Off the shoulder’ styles that are soft and flowing. Also wedding dresses in other colours than white, or with highlight colours in the train and embroidery are becoming popular with Modern brides. Colours of creams and ivory, pinks, champagne, platinum and even red and purple have been seen at many modern weddings.

With wedding flowers, the fresh ‘just picked’ look, tied neatly around the stems with pretty ribbon is now more popular than the time-honoured tightly bound bouquets of the past. The humble romantic rose still remains the most popular wedding flower, however flowers such as lilies, hydrangeas, tulips and orchids are leaving their mark at weddings today.
